The Petronas Towers Rock!

We had been eyeing the Petronas Towers all throughout our visit to Kuala Lumpur from various spots in the city. I'm not exactly sure why but for some reason I was really excited to see the famous connected sky scrapers.  Even seeing them from the outskirts of the city on the bus ride from the airport was a distinct thrill.  Steph will remember me waking her up on the bus with a huge grin on my face when we could see them out the window.  It was time to get a close up view.

Once the tallest building in the world in the early 2000s, they are a seriously good dose of modern in this fascinating city. Rising high over the bustling streets below, they gleam in the warm Malaysian sunlight and glow brightly, lit from head to toe by lights at night. We didn't go up and walk across the sky bridge, but just seeing them from the outside was enough.

We went just before sunset and were rewarded with a some good lighting.  However, with the sun fading fast it took quite a few attempts to find a nice frame.  In the end I think I captured the essence of this colossal structure, glistening in the soft evening light.

I do have to say though, that they were harder to photograph than I expected. Getting them in the frame was a challenge. Anyone order a side of distortion?!  That's not the leaning tower of KL on the left.  It's straight in person, I promise.

That's all for now.  I'm off to read up on tall building photography...
